Agricultural Mechanisation

Home / Agricultural Mechanisation

Agricultural Mechanisation is a global need for farmers. In Uganda, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries set out to make agricultural mechanisation more accessible and usable by farmers by increasing availability of machines and working with partners including the Makerere University College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences to increase capacity of Agricultural Engineers.

Local Governments have stepped up recruitment of Senior Agricultural Engineers from this initiative to support linkage with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries where mechanisation is handled by the Department of Agricultural Infrastructure, Mechanisation and Water for Agricultural Production.

Heavy Earth Moving Equipment and other Machines are used for bush-clearing, digging ponds for aquaculture, valley tanks, dams and creating roads to link to areas of production.
