The Government of the Republic of Uganda, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries will host the OIC AGRO-FOOD INDUSTRIES Forum 2011, which will be held from the 11th to 12th of October, 2011 in Kampala.

 H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda is expected to officiate at the Opening Ceremony on 11th October 2011. H.E the Secretary General of the OIC will also grace the event by attending the opening ceremony. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister will officiate at the Closing Ceremony on 12th October 2011.

The OIC agro-food industries Forum 2011 will focus on “Empowering Farmers to Harness the Benefits of Commercial Agriculture with the overall aim of exploring the ways and means of addressing the issues related to the development of food industries in OIC countries. The Forum will discuss both technological as well as financial constraints and opportunities, with emphasis on success stories and the role of the private sector in agro-food industry development in OIC countries. 

The discussions will be focused on post-harvest and value addition, opportunities for investment, as well as the vital contribution of the Private Sector in agriculture and rural development. 

The Forum will gather entrepreneurs, financiers, consultants, government officials, foundations, researchers, bankers, representatives of international financial institutions and development agencies from OIC Countries, all of whom share a keen interest in Africa’s development. At this forum Uganda will showcase itself as a country with excellent business incentives to attract direct foreign investment and also provide a great example of lessons in growing an agricultural based economy.

Over 350 delegates from OIC countries are expected to attend the 2011 OIC agro-food industries Forum. The conference will include plenary sessions and parallel workshops handling different topics. Simultaneous translation of English and Arabic will be provided.
