Official launch of the 26th Source of the Nile National Agricultural Show by the Vice President

On the 19th of July 2018, the 26th Source of the Nile National Agricultural Show was officially launched by His Excellency Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda on behalf of the President H.E Yoweri Museveni.

The Vice President who was welcomed by Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Sempijja the Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries with whom he toured the stalls to see innovations from both the public and private sector.

Today, close to 80% of the households in the country are involved in agriculture and going by Financial Year 2016/17 the sector contributed 24.9% of the national GDP and 72.9% of the total national export earnings.

Among the centers in the MAAIF area were the Ministry Directorates including the Directorate of Fisheries Resources, Directorate of Animal Resources, Directorate of Agricultural Extension Services and the Directorate of Crop Resources and the Agencies including the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS), Cotton Development Organisation (CDO), Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA), Dairy Development Authority (DDA), Coordinating Office for the Control of Trypanosomiasis in Uganda (COCTU) and the National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Databank (NAGRC).
